Seahawks Beat the Chiefs 20-3 and Shut Down Kenneth Walker III

Seattle handed Kansas City its first loss of 2026 on Sunday night, 20-3, per ESPN. Jaxon Smith-Njigba finished with 150 receiving yards, and the Seahawks' defense held Walker, the league's leading rusher entering the game with 665 yards, to a season-low 36 yards on 14 carries. Walker never gained 10 yards on a single carry, ESPN reported.

They outplayed us. We've just got to get better.

The Chiefs managed three points, tying the fewest in a game started by Patrick Mahomes, and never reached the red zone, the first time that has happened in his 153 starts, ESPN reported. Kansas City was without tackles Josh Simmons and Jaylon Moore and receivers Rashee Rice and Tyquan Thornton, and its wideouts caught six passes for 39 yards. Seattle converted 11 of 16 third downs and has now gone 36 straight games without allowing a 100-yard rusher, the longest active streak in the NFL, per ESPN.

Chiefs at Broncos Odds: What the Market Did

Next up is a trip to Denver on Sunday, November 1. DraftKings opened the Broncos as 1.5-point favorites. It now has the Chiefs as 1.5-point favorites, per ESPN's odds feed as of October 26 at 9:25 AM ET.

The feed does not say why a line moved, so what follows is our reading.

Our Read: One Bad Night Has Not Erased Kansas City's Price

  • The market is looking past the score. A 20-3 loss did not push Kansas City to underdog status in Denver. Whatever the line is pricing, it is weighing more than Sunday night alone.
  • The absences carry the explanation. With two tackles and two receivers unavailable, Sunday looks more like a depleted offense meeting an elite defense than proof the Chiefs are broken. That reading cuts both ways, since Simmons is on injured reserve and no return is promised.
  • The wide receiver gap is real. Six catches for 39 yards from the whole group is a problem that persists if Rice and Thornton stay out, and ESPN noted the trade deadline is November 10.
  • Seattle may be flattering the picture. The Seahawks' defense is built to do this to run-first offenses, and Sam Darnold threw his eighth interception in five games. Denver is a different test than Seattle.

We would not read the Chiefs' loss as a trend yet. One game against a defense that ESPN says allows the second-fewest points in the league, with a thin offense, is thin evidence either way.

What to Watch Before Chiefs at Broncos

  • Whether Rice practices this week after missing Sunday with a strained right hamstring.
  • Whether the Chiefs' line stays at -1.5 or moves as injury news arrives.
  • Whether Kansas City adds a receiver ahead of the November 10 trade deadline.
  • How often Walker gets carries in the second half if the game is close.
