Ravens Blow a 10-0 Lead at Cleveland, Their 16th Since 2020
Baltimore lost 13-10 to the Browns on Sunday on a 37-yard field goal as time expired, after leading 10-0, ESPN reported. It was the Ravens' 16th blown double-digit lead since 2020, the most in the NFL and three more than the Chargers, who are second with 13.
It's 'Groundhog Day' with this question.
ESPN pointed to a Derrick Henry fourth-quarter fumble, a missed 49-yard field goal by Tyler Loop and coverage lapses. In the 16 blown leads Baltimore has 15 fourth-quarter turnovers, and opposing quarterbacks have thrown 17 touchdowns and no interceptions against the secondary in the fourth quarter. Tyler Huntley started for Lamar Jackson, who missed his second straight game with an ankle injury.
Bengals vs. Ravens Odds: What the Market Did
Baltimore is still favored at home against Cincinnati, but by less than at the open. Per ESPN's odds feed (DraftKings) as of October 20 at 9:03 AM ET, the Ravens are 4-2 and the Bengals 3-2.
| Market | Opening | Current | Move |
|---|---|---|---|
| Spread | Baltimore -3.5 | Baltimore -3 | Down half a point |
| Ravens moneyline | -192 | -148 | Shorter favorite |
| Bengals moneyline | +160 | +124 | Shorter underdog |
| Total | 52.5 | 51.5 | Down 1 |
The feed does not say why a line moved, so everything after this table is our reading and not a reported cause.
Our Read: Habit, Luck and the Quarterback Question
This is our own commentary, built on the reporting above.
- Sixteen is a pattern, not proof of a cause. Turnovers, a kicker's second-half misses and late coverage lapses are different problems. Sharing a label does not make them one flaw.
- The price shrank more than the spread. The spread moved half a point, but by our arithmetic the Ravens' implied win chance fell from about 66% to about 60% before margin. That gap fits a market weighing something beyond the Cleveland score.
- Jackson's status is the swing factor. ESPN says there is hope he returns, not that he will. A line built on a healthy Jackson and one built on Huntley are different bets.
- Close games cut both ways. The last three Baltimore wins came in the final moments, which looks like thin margins in both directions rather than a team that is simply bad late.
The evidence points both ways, and a week of practice reports will say more than the line does.
What to Watch Before Sunday
- Jackson's practice participation and any official injury designation.
- Whether Henry and the offense hold on to the ball in the fourth quarter.
- Loop's attempts after Minter said second-half kicks matter.
- Whether the spread stays at 3 or moves with Jackson's news.
